Troubleshooting Error Message: Remoting Request invalid for your session

Why am I seeing an error when saving my call log? What does ‘Remoting request invalid for your session’ mean?

An error message can occur when a Salesforce page has expired and invalidated a session token.  Below are some potential causes and solutions for this error.

What can cause this error?

When attempting to save the call log, this error may display: “Remoting request invalid for your session”

  • Any additional Salesforce tab in the background that hasn’t been touched for duration of session timeout can invoke this error
    • Example: 5 tabs are open but the agent only works from 4. After a session timeout has been reached on this 5th page, Salesforce will throw an error
  • Session timeout settings can be adjusted by Salesforce Administrators
  • Default session timeout is 2 hours

When an agent is on the phone during one of these timeouts, the remoting error will occur because Salesforce pushes the expired token to the new task.

How can I resolve this error?

Follow these steps to resolve the error.

To resolve this error:

  1. Navigate to Setup
  2. Click Security
  3. Click Session Settings
  4. Choose 1 of the following options:
    • Change the session settings timeout to 8+ hours
      OR
    • Enable the session timeout warning popup setting
      OR
    • Enable the force to logout on session timeout setting
